How the estimate works

Each tile's footprint includes half a grout joint on every side, so the tile count reflects how tiles actually sit on the floor. The count is then increased by the waste percentage for your layout and rounded up to whole tiles and whole boxes.

Diagonal and herringbone layouts produce more offcuts, which is why they need more extra. Keep a few spare tiles after the job for future repairs, since the same color batch can be hard to find later.
